Employees of ACC Cement Factory continue protest for second consecutive day

Coimbatore: The employees of the ACC Cement Plant in Madukkarai are on an indefinite strike for the second consecutive day. The employees on strike have alleged the management of intimidating them to give up the protest. 

The workers on protest have putforth a charter of demands including pay hike for contractual workers at par with permanent workers, fixed work timings among others. 

The employees also pointed that only 60% of the work force in the production unit belong to this region, while the rest belong to other states. They have demanded the management to hold talks with them or they would continue the protests.
